A Tribute to Johnny Cash
«The Man in Black» with Shawn Barker
He’s been drawing crowds to Le Capitole de Québec for almost four years now and has just passed the milestone of 125,000 tickets sold on Canadian soil. Shawn Barker is back in Quebec City for a 4th season from June 28 to September 2, inclusively, at the Théâtre Capitole with, with The Man in Black – A Tribute to Johnny Cash.
Widely acclaimed by both the critics and spectators, Shawn Barker is currently considered the pre-eminent Johnny Cash tribute artist as well as having an uncanny resemblance to the performer.
Shawn Barker and Johnny Cash have walked very similar paths. Both come from the same area of Arkansas and we born into hard-working families of cotton farmers. Shawn delivers such an accurate and authentic interpretation of Cash because he naturally identifies with the stories his idol sings and everything the music reflects.
Johnny Cash is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Throughout his career, he created a sound that transcended different musical genres, whether county, blues, folk, gospel or rock. He continues to inspire new generations, since the youth of today, like those of yesterday, still identify with his rebellious spirit.
“His voice is totally impressive, as well as the imitation… It seems that Cash has not completely left the planet.”
- Marie-Christine Blais, La Presse
“It’s like seeing and hearing the real McCoy.”
- Rebecca Makonnen, Radio de Radio-Canada
“Johnny Cash can rest in peace. Shawn Barker portrays him as nobody else can.”
- Maxime Dubois, Québec 800
“The physical and vocal resemblance is such that you can’t tell Barker apart from the real Cash.”
- Pierre O. Nadeau, Le Journal de Québec
